Female vocals are certainly nothing new in the world of hard and dark rock. Even when sales figures normally say very little about actual quality, the majority of newcomers follow the lead of the big names in the scene and—with their operatic warbling and elfin yodelling— disappear in the wake of the top-sellers.
But THE FLAW from the Ruhr Area can count themselves lucky to have such a talent on the microphone in Alexandra Leu, who’s style is more akin to a Beth Gibbons (Portishead), PJ Harvey, Tori Amos or Loreena McKennitt than a Turunen, Scabbia or den Adel. With amazing intensity and emotional depth, Leu transports the listener to sonic spheres beyond the faceless bulk goods that the music industry currently pumps out. Whereas other bands in the genre normally rely on a keyboarder to fill in the gaps in the overall sound, THE FLAW is built around the sturdier, classic instrumentation of bass (Massimo Sarti), guitar (Lars Schlüter) and drums (Janis Bakine). Samples, electronic beats or harmonies are carefully chosen and used sparingly to give their songs the proper twist.
THE FLAW’s music is painted with changes in emotional texture, double-bass attacks, dark and melodious depth, power chord riffs and staccato single notes.
Although the band’s overall sound can be described as melodic/melancholic, the quartet’s Rammstein- or Slayer-like influences do shine through in the most skilful way. Whoever is looking for some light kitsch in the world of goth and dark metal better look elsewhere! But whoever is looking for quality, depth and creativity and who is not afraid of taking a trip into the depths of human soul and emotion can count themselves lucky to have found a new jewel of dark music in THE FLAW.
Facts: Since 2003, THE FLAW have played, in the current formation, many concerts both inland and abroad (with established acts such as Haggard or Eisheilig among others) and have proved that they are capable of bringing across their individual sound convincingly on stage. In 2006, the band released the EP “Burning Skies”, which was applauded by the most noteworthy magazines of the scene (EMPMagazin, Zillo, Sonic Seducer, etc.). Some of the tracks also made it onto those magazines CD samplers. On May 16th, 2008, THE FLAW’s first full-length album will be released, entitled “Different Kinds of Truth.” With its high level of individuality, it promises to rise above the faceless monotony of the masses and establish THE FLAW on the national and international scene.

| C'est pas mal du tout... C'est pas le style vocal que je préfère mais ils ont un son bien à eux et pas désagréable à écouter.... A retenir donc...
